Tourney Time: Cougars Play Wildcats in Final Day of Crossroads League Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) softball team will face Indiana Wesleyan University in day four of the Crossroads League Softball Tournament on Friday, May 2. This year's tournament is being held on the campus of Taylor University in Upland, Ind.

The Cougars enter the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed, while IWU is the No. 2 seed in the bracket and is ranked No. 12 in the NAIA Polls.

GAME NOTES

  • Saint Francis finished the regular season with an overall record of 27-19 and a Crossroads League record of 20-16.
  • Indiana Wesleyan concluded the regular season with an overall record of 41-7 and a league record of 31-5.
  • USF and IWU first met back on March 21 in Marion, where the Wildcats won game one by a final score of 13-0 before the Cougars rallied for a 12-10 upset win in game two. 
  • The two teams met again on April 17. Indiana Wesleyan won both games by final scores of 9-7 and 11-5. 
  • As a team, the USF Cougars have a .330 batting average, an on-base percentage of .420 and a slugging percentage of .519. USF has driven in 309 runs and hit 49 homers so far this season. The Saint Francis pitching staff has struck out 209 batters this year while giving up 173 walks and 249 earned runs. 
  • Abby Robakowski is first in the Crossroads League with 17 home runs this season and is ranked first in the league with a .525 batting average. She is also fourth in the CL with 57 RBI.
  • Paiton Iliff has the second-most homers this season in the conference with 16.
  • Ellie Sauder is third in the CL this season with three saves.
  • Indiana Wesleyan has a .387 batting average with an on-base percentage of .465 and a slugging percentage of .558. IWU has scored 438 runs and hit 37 homers this season. The Wildcats' pitching staff has struck out 230 batters while giving up 121 walks and 153 earned runs.
  • Three Wildcats are in the top-five in batting average in the CL, including Morgan Yeater (.512), Courtney Thomas (.450) and Abby Harvey (.438). Harvey also leads the league with 70 RBI, while Brylee Bilger is tied for fourth with 57 and has 15 homers this year. Yeater and Whitney Waddell both lead the conference with 36 stolen bases each. 
  • Jordyn Ball has the third-best ERA in the Crossroads League at 2.41 and the third most strikeouts with 144.
