Westendorf Field

Westendorf Field

Westendorf Field, located on the east side of campus, serves as the home of Cougar softball at the University of Saint Francis. The facility was completed and dedicated in the spring of 2000 and was officially renamed Westendorf Field during a ceremony on April 29, 2016.

The field honors the legacy of the late Larry Westendorf, who served as head coach and administrator of SF women’s athletics from 1989 through the 1999 season. Westendorf was inducted into the Saint Francis Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.

During his three seasons as head softball coach, the Cougars set consecutive program records for wins and captured the program’s only regular-season conference championship in 1997. The team followed that success by setting a then-school record with 30 wins in 1998.

Westendorf also served as co-head coach of the 1998–99 Saint Francis women’s basketball team, which finished 33–5 and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Championship game.
