WARRIORS DEFEATED BY #11 ST. FRANCIS AT HOME

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - The Warriors' offense had trouble getting going throughout their matchup with the #11 St. Francis Cougars on Saturday afternoon, falling 73-42 in Garth Pleasant Arena. After a solid first quarter, the Warriors' offense stagnated for the second and third periods, allowing the visitors to grow a big lead. Forward Jacey Somers led the Warriors in scoring with 15 points on 4-8 shooting, while guard Isabella Gizzi led the Cougars with 19 points. 

THE RUNDOWN 

FIRST HALF

A couple of baskets by the Cougars got the game started, but RCU responded with quick baskets, including a wing three by Somers, to keep the game close. The teams kept up the pace from there, with St. Francis taking advantage of some offensive miscues by the Warriors for easy transition baskets. Following the media timeout, the Warriors started to crawl back and close the margin, with Somers knocking down a three and a layup to cut the margin to five at the buzzer. 

The second quarter saw the game open up for the visitors, with Gizzi catching fire from three while the Warriors couldn't find an answer. The Cougars continued their momentum for the quarter, with RCU having trouble finding open looks thanks to stifling defense. The Cougars entered the halftime break up on the Warriors 37-20. 

SECOND HALF

Things continued to roll the Cougars' way, with turnovers plaguing the Warriors' comeback efforts. RCU got strong minutes from Mylah Aalse, who forced turnovers and found looks inside to salvage the Warriors' offense. In the fourth quarter, the Warriors continued to fight, with Demi Rodriguez and Alaina Kellenberger finding hustle points inside to close the gap.

The Warriors play their final game of 2025 on New Year's Eve, hosting the Bethel Pilots at 4 p.m. in Garth Pleasant Arena.
