Cougars Drop to the Siena Heights Saints at Home

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis Men's Soccer Team played host to Siena Heights University (Mich.) Saints early Saturday afternoon. The Cougars fell to the Saints with a 2-1 final.

The first half was primarily led by the Cougars setting the pace and the tone due to a 1-0 lead that came in the 13th-minute from Alessandro Florencia. Henning Bundscoch delivered a ball in from the left-flank, connecting with Florencia for an easy tap-in at the back post.

The Cougars held the lead for 8-minutes, until Siena Heights stormed back from a counterattack, leaving Yannik Reiss vulnerable as the last line of defense for USF. Tiago Moraes tied things up in the 22nd minute and the two sides exchanged attacking opportunities for the remainder of the half.

USF came out slow in the second half and lost their finesse building forward. The Saints took over in the second half and were able to take the lead in the 69th-minute from a Lewis Crombie goal. The Cougars outshot the Saints 18-8, but were unable to find an equalizer in the end. This is the 2nd match they have dropped since their Home Opener against Cornerstone University (Mich.) back on August 19th.

USF is now 6-2 overall and will play their next match at home before entering into Crossroads League play. The Cougars will play host to Bluffton University Wednesday, September 20th with a 7pm kick-off time.
