Cougars Crunch the Leaf's in Commanding 4-1 Victory for Homecoming Weekend

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The USF (Ind.) men's soccer team played host to the Goshen College Maple Leaf's to cap off the Homecoming & Alumni weekend. The Cougars executed their game plan flawlessly, and finished the match in a 4-1 win over the Leaf's.

The Cougars got on the board first with a deflected shot and goal from Guilherme Girotto Franco in the 25th minute. Franco later assisted the final goal of the match as well. The Cougars went into the half tied with the Leaf's due to a Mario Perez (GC) goal in the 34th minute. After a halftime reset, the Cougars maintained a majority of possession for the match & finally broke through with a penalty kick in the 73rd minute from Enrique Subiran for the game winning goal, and his first of the match. Alessandro Florencia also sacrificed his body in the box for a scrum goal off a Henning Bundschuh corner in the 77th minute. Subiran later put the dagger through the Leaf's in the 87th minute, chipping the Goshen keeper from a  square ball served to him by Franco at the top of the box.

USF is now 8-4-3 overall and 1-2-3 in CL Play. USF will be back in action this coming Saturday at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana on St. Vincent Field. This weekend's game is in support of domestic violence prevention. If you are attending the match, please wear purple to show your support!
