Cougars Defeat Mount Vernon Nazarene at Home
The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Lady Cougars took on the visiting Cougars of Mount Vernon Nazarene (Oh.) for a crossroads league matchup on Wednesday night. Your Lady Cougs jumped out to an early lead and never gave it back, winning this one 65-45.
Chloe McKnight got things started in the 1st quarter with 5 points to help give them a 4 point lead heading into the 2nd. Ally Madden took control of the Cougar offense by putting up 12 points of her own leading into the half. They were up 28-23 going into the 3rd quarter. With a well balanced offense and some strong team defense they extended their lead to 10 with a quarter left to play. McKnight filled the stat sheet up with 8 points, 2 boards, and 2 assists to help the Lady Cougs seal the victory.
Three of the starters played a big role in this one. Running the point, Emily Parrett had 8 points, 2 steals, and 3 assists. Chloe McKnight played a huge role in this one with 18 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Lastly, another key contributor on the night was Ally Madden who also had 18 points in the victory.
USF is now 15-9 overall and 8-7 in Crossroads League play. The Lady Cougars will play again Saturday February 10th against the Marian University Knights at 1:00 PM in Indianapolis, Indiana. Marian University is currently 24-1 overall and 15-0 in Crossroads League Play. The last time these two teams matched up was in the Hutzell Athletic Center on January 13th. The Lady Cougs look to even up the series after losing last time, 62-50.
