Women's Basketball Drops to Marian Knights
The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars took on a very talented Marian University Knights squad for a Crossroads League matchup on Saturday afternoon. Your Lady Cougs came out slow in the first quarter and never got a chance to come back, losing this one 76-60.
Isabella Gizzi got things started in the 1st quarter with 5 points. Ally Madden took control of the Cougar offense by putting up 10 points as she looked to gain momentum for USF. They were down 34-23 going into the 3rd quarter. USF came into the 3rd with the goal of coming back as they cut the Knights lead to six. Marian regained control in the 4th quarter to end the contest on a positive note. Madden filled the stat sheet up with 21 points, 5 boards, and shot 10-13 from the field.
Two of the starters played a big role in this one. Running the point, Emily Parrett had 14 points, 2 steals, 2 assists, and 2 boards. Taylor Fordyce came off the bench scoring 7 points and 4 rebounds. USF only shot 16.7% from the three-point range. Their record drops to 15-10 and 8-8 in CL action.
USF is now 15-10 overall and 8-8 in Crossroads League play. The Lady Cougars will play again on Wednesday, February 21st against Grace College at 5:30 PM at Hutzell Athletic Center where they will be celebrating Senior Night. Grace College is currently 13-13 and looking to keep their tournament hopes alive.
