Cougars Fall to Knights in Semifinals - Awaiting NAIA Women’s Basketball Championship Selection

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Cougars returned to the Crossroads League tournament action against the Marian Knights. The Cougars traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana trying to get past this highly contested semifinal game against the Knights. They fell in the contest to a score of 107-60.

Marian had only lost one game in the year and proved to USF that they came out ready to play. Marian increased their lead to 15 on an Abbey McNally free throw with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. USF had a rough night shooting as they went 31.5% from field goal range. The Knights shot 68.9% from field-goal range. USF was able to shoot 82.6% from the FT line going 19-23. USF forward, Ally Madden, led the scoring for USF scoring 12 points and 7 boards playing 29 total minutes. USF guard, Emily Parrett, added 9 points and 3 rebounds. 

For Marian, Ella Collier scored a game-high 24 points shooting 80% from field goal range. Another Knight in double figures was Abbey McNally tallying 16 points along with 7 rebounds. Marian will move on to the final game in the Crossroads League Tournament.

USF finished 18-11 overall and 10-8 in the conference. The Cougs now anxiously await March 7, at 8 p.m. EST when the qualifiers are announced for the 2024 NAIA Women's Basketball Championship. You can watch along at NAIA YouTube.
