No. 18 Saint Francis Stays Undefeated with Win Over No. 16 Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 18 University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's basketball team defeated the No. 16 Indiana Tech Warriors by a final score of 65-53 on Saturday, November 16. 

USF outscored Indiana Tech 15-10 in the first quarter. The Cougars extended their lead to 13 points at the 3:30 mark of the second quarter thanks to a made layup and free throw from Taylor FordyceThe Warriors were able to cut the Cougars' lead to five points with just under a minute left in the second. Saint Francis would hold off Indiana Tech for the 31-24 lead at the half. 

The Warriors narrowly outscored the Cougars 20-17 in the third quarter to make the score 48-44. After a close battle in the fourth quarter, freshman Cali Gregory made a layup to put USF ahead 63-53 with 1:14 left to play in the game. The Cougars would go on to defeat the Warriors by a final score of 65-53 to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Cougars shot 46.9% (23-49) from the field and 35.3% (6-17) from three-point range. USF also pulled down 34 rebounds compared to Indiana Tech's 28. Gregory led Saint Francis with 24 points, shooting 9-15 from the floor and 2-3 from deep. Chloe McKnight and Fordyce added 11 points apiece. Julia Mantyla had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Up next, USF women's basketball (7-0) will host Taylor University to open Crossroads League play on November 20.
