Cougars Open Season with Second Place Finishes at Beaver Dam Invite

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's and women's cross country teams began the 2024 season at the Beaver Dam Invite hosted by Bluffton University on Friday, August 30. 

The women's team finished the race in second place. The Cougars were led by sophomore Victoria Clibon who finished in second place with a time of 19:19.8. Gloria Wafula was the next Cougar to finish the race in 11th place (20:45.6), narrowly followed by Kiara Bahena in 12th place (20:47.8).

On the men's side, the Cougars raced to a second-place finish as a team, led by freshman Hugo Humbert. Humbert crossed the finish line in second place in a time of 19:23.5. Alvin Keter took fourth place with a time of 19:26.4, followed by Kelvin Sanja Etiang in 11th place with a time of 19:57.9. 

Coach Moody said he was "extremely pleased with how the team raced. Collectively, they represented USF in about the best way they possibly could on Friday night."

Up next, USF men's and women's cross country will compete at the Twilight Invite hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on September 6.
