Cougars get the better of SAU with CL Tourney DUB

HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- On Friday afternoon, The University of Saint Francis Cougars took on The University of Spring Arbor Cougars in their second tournament matchup, winning the series 15-4.

In the tournament matchup, Hunter Frost took the mound to start for the Cougars. Looking to bounce back from the devastating loss yesterday, the Cougar offense came out ready to rock. It started with 3 singles coming from from Sam Pesa, Noah Mack, and Kolton Cardenas in the 1st to make it 3-0.

Then, the Cougar defense would let one slip by a little later as Spring Arbor would score a single in the 4th to make it 3-1. But, this Cougar team would clean up its act and find a response scoring a David Miller 2-run homer and Noah Mack 2-run homer to make it 7-1 in the 5th. Spring Arbor would tack on another run to make it 7-2 in the 6th, but the Cougars responded back with a pair of walks and a 2-run single to make it 11-2.

Spring Arbor would sneak by again with another single to make it 11-3, but Jose Valdez Sandoval would crush a solo home run to make it 12-3 in the 7th. Spring Arbors last stick offensive attack would come off a wild pitch making it 12-4, but that would be the last offense they could muster. The Cougars would lay the foot on the gas in the 8th scoring off an error and a pair of RBI doubles to make it 15-4, closing out the game with a win.

The Cougars will return to Huntington, Indiana for another game in the double bracket situational facing-off with Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
