Cougars Earn Midweek Matchup Win
Fort Wayne, Ind. --The University of Saint Francis (Ind). Cougars baseball team squared off against the IUPUC Crimson Pride for a midweek matchup Tuesday afternoon. They battled for all nine innings and came out on top.
It was a 0-0 game heading into the third when the Pride jumped out in front 5-0. USF responded in the bottom half with a Kolton Cardenas Single and AJ Patton walk to make it 5-3. IUPUC got all 3 runs back in the fifth making it an 8-3 ballgame. But thanks to scoreless pitching from Lukas North, Casey Henry, Landen Hiatt, and Jaden Markus, that is all they would get in this one. The Cougars scratched one on a wild throw in the fifth, and another from a Bryce Adams double in the sixth. This made it an 8-7 ball game. They then put up 7 runs in the bottom of the seventh to blow this one up. These rbis came from a Gabe Oliva double, Brayden McInturf single, Jackson McKee sac fly, Bryce Adams single, Brenden Lytle groundball, and Ayden Lichtensteiger single. They came out on top in this one 12-8.
The Cougars are now 15-10 and 5-7 in conference play. They will take on the Wildcats from Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday and Saturday for a conference matchup. They are 16-6 and 10-2 in conference. The first game will be at noon at Cougar Field.
