
Cougars dominate in first CL Win of 2023-24 Season
UPLAND, Ind. -- The University of Saint francis (Ind.) Cougars traveled to Upland, Indiana this past weekend to partake in a Crossroads League double-header match-up with the Taylor University Trojans. Both the women's and men's programs came out of the weekend with very commanding wins and a 1-0 start to CL League & the Cougars are now 6-2 overall. USF finished the game with a fiery attack in Odle Arena, defeating the Trojans 97-75.
USF headed into halftime with an impressive 52-30 lead over the Trojans. USF freshman, Luke Almodovar, led in overall scoring with 26 points going 10-13 from the field. All in all, the Cougars had a balanced attack in scoring amongst the team with four of the five starters scoring in double digits. Branden Northern was the second-leading scorer with 20 points and 5 assists. Charlie Yoder added 15 points, while Zane Burke had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. This led to USF getting ahead in the game and never letting Taylor gain momentum.
The Cougars will open their home Crossroads League play this Tuesday, November 21st at Hutzell Athletic Center. USF will host the Goshen Maple Leafs at 7:30 PM as they look to win their 5th straight contest.
