USF's Season Comes to an End Against Georgetown in NAIA Second Round

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's basketball team fell to Georgetown College by a final score of 83-64 in the NAIA Men's Basketball Championships Second Round, presented by Ballogy on Saturday, March 15. 

The No. 2 seeded Georgetown Tigers jumped out to an early 10-5 lead at the 14:00 mark of the first half. Joe Reidy  made a jump shot to tie the game at 15-15 with 8:51 remaining in the half. The Cougars and Tigers battled back and forth, with neither team able to take a lead larger than three points. With just over a minute left on the clock, Georgetown made a layup to take a 32-28 lead. USF responded by tying the game with just seven seconds left in the half. However, Georgetown hit a last-second jump shot to take a two-point lead at halftime, with the score at 34-32. 

Luke Almodovar opened the second half with a three-pointer, putting Saint Francis back on top at 35-34. The back-and-forth battle continued in the second half, with both teams battling for control of the game. At the 11:01 mark, Georgetown managed to pull ahead 56-49. The Cougars attempted to rally and cut down the Tigers' lead, but Georgetown managed to hang on and secure the victory with a final score of 83-64, advancing to the Round of 16 in Kansas City, Missouri.

As a team, Saint Francis shot 38.8% (19-49) from the floor and pulled down 32 rebounds. Isaiah Malone led with 18 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Senior Zane Burke scored 11 points and dished out a team-high five assists. Branden Northern added nine points, seven rebounds and four assists, while Reidy contributed eight points and a steal. 

The USF men's basketball team concluded the 2024-25 season with an overall record of 18-13 and returned to the NAIA Men's Basketball Championship First and Second Rounds for the first time since the 2022 season.
