Cougars Golf shakes off some Rust in 1st Spring 2023 Match

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Men's Golf team traveled to Columbia, Kentucky to partake in The Pines at Lindsey Wilson for the Blue Raider Invite on March 20th & 21st. The Cougars had some promising play from a few key players, two of thee players being freshmen entering into their first seasons with the Cougars.

Round 1 was lead by our two Freshmen, Bailey Marquart (+1 over par 72) and Seth Roop (+3 over par 74). This was Bailey Marquart's first tournament as a USF Cougar and he did not dissapoint as he played steady golf making 13 pars, 3 bogey's and 2 birdies. Seth Roop also carded 13 pars in round 1 followed with 4 bogey's and 1 birdie.

Leading the way for the Cougars in round 2 was junior, Levi Follett, who made 6 birdies and finished with a 74 (+3 over par). Freshman Seth Roop and Bailey Marquart were right behind Follett with scores of 75 and 76. As a team the Cougars enjoyed getting back into action and knocking some rust off from their winter months.

USF definitely saw some areas that needed to be improved on, as this coming week they will travel down to Lexington for Monday (3/27) and Tuesday (3/28) for the Spring Arbor University – Garn Championsip. Overall, Coach Potts and the team were not happy with how they finished the tournament, but are looking forward to a good week of practice heading into next week!
