USF drops home opener to Golden Eagles of the WHAC

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team dropped their home opener this afternoon to the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University, 1-0. Under the leadership of Mamba Chisoni, the Cougars out shot CU 18 to 5, but came up short in the end.

Freshman goalkeeper, Jannik Reiss, faced 4 shots on frame, saving 3 of them. Dominik Borucki, Sasha Halabi, & Tomas Abreu all recorded a full 90 minutes in the match with Abreu having 2 shots from midfield. Daniel Eleuterio, Luis Miguel Parodi, Martim Silva, Rodrigo Silveira, Fabio Leschinsky, & Dalton Blankenbaker all had opportunities on frame to tie & take the lead, but were unable to do so. The best opportunity USF had came in the 80th minute, where Blankenbaker striked a shot off the back stick.

USF will start their season on the back foot falling to CU, but will be back in action on Tuesday August 22. The Cougars will play host to St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Saints and will have a set kick-off time of 7pm.
