Cougars Down Saints 3-1 on Tuesday

ADRIAN, Mich. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) earned a 3-1 victory over the Siena Heights Saints on Tuesday, September 3.

The first half was a competitive battle between the two teams, but it was the Cougars who were able to get on the scoreboard first from an own goal off a miscommunication from the Saints in the 24th minute of action. USF would go into halftime up 1-0.

Siena Heights tied the score up in the first five minutes of the second half, but USF quickly answered, with Henning Bundschuh netting his first goal of the season just nine minutes later. Kamaldien Imtiyaaz assisted on the goal as Saint Francis took the 2-1 lead. Freshman Mika Leib netted his first goal in the final 10 minutes of action to extend the Cougars' lead to two. Saint Francis held off the Saints to secure the 3-1 victory and improve to 2-3 on the season.

As a team, the Cougars outshot Siena Heights 18-8, with 10 of those USF shots landing on goal. Leib led the team with three total shots taken and two shots on goal. Toby Lewis played all 90 minutes in goal for Saint Francis and finished the night with five saves.

Up next, USF men's soccer (2-3-0) will travel to Michigan to take on Lawrence Technological University on Saturday, September 7.
