USF Nets Five Goals in Win Over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team extended their win streak to four with a 5-1 victory over the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Pomeroys on Saturday, September 14.
 
The Cougars got on the scoreboard first after Christian Walter netted his first goal of the season in the 16th minute of action. Walter was assisted by freshman Mika Leib. Despite being held scoreless in the first half, the Pomeroys were able to level the score at 1-1 in the opening minute of the second half with a goal by Lucas Dias. After some back-and-forth action, Joshua Boschveld put USF back on top with a goal at the 65:15 mark. The Cougars weren't done as USF went on to score three more goals in the second half, including goals from Unax Mendia, Dominik Borucki and a second goal from Walter. Fernando Bonfim and Paul Scheifele each picked up an assist in the second half of Saturday's game.
 
The Cougars outshot the Pomeroys 24-6 during Saturday's matchup and led in corner kicks with seven. USF goalkeeper Toby Lewis collected two saves on the day. 

Up next, USF men's soccer (5-3-0) will host Holy Cross College at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium on Tuesday, September 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
