Cougars Fall Short at No.5 Indiana Wesleyan
MARION, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team battled the No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats during a rainy Crossroads League matchup on Saturday, September 28.
After Indiana Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the first half, the Cougars responded with a goal in the 70th minute from junior Tom Hollmann to tie the score 1-1. the Wildcats answered with a goal of their own off a penalty shot to retake the lead. After IWU scored again in the 81st minute to extend their lead to 3-2, Christian Walter found Joshua Boschveld who fired the ball into the back of the net to cut Indiana Wesleyan's lead to one with just over six minutes left to play in Saturday's game. USF's rally would fall just short as Indiana Wesleyan would hang on to take Saturday night's match to improve to 10-0, 2-0 on the season.
As a team, Saint Francis took nine shots against the Wildcats. Paul Scheifele and Mika Leib added shots on goal, while Toby Lewis had seven saves during 90 minutes in goal for the Cougars.
Up next, USF men's soccer 6-4-1, 0-1-1 will travel to Huntington University for a conference game on October 2.
