GOSHEN, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team shut out the host Goshen College Maple Leafs, earning a 2-0 road victory on Wednesday, October 16.
Christian Walter put the Cougars on the board early after scoring on a cross in the sixth minute of action. Joshua Boschveld extended UFS's lead after firing a shot into the back of the net in the 42nd minute. The Cougars would go into halftime up 2-0.
USF's strong defensive effort held the Maple Leafs to just four shots in the second half, with Saint Francis goalkeeper Jannik Reiss making two saves to shutout Goshen for the 2-0 victory.
Saint Francis outshot Goshen 17-8, with eight of those shots landing on goal for the Cougars. Unax Mendia, Boschveld, and Walter each had a pair of shots land on goal on Wednesday night.
