Saint Francis Shuts Out Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's soccer team shut out the host Goshen College Maple Leafs, earning a 2-0 road victory on Wednesday, October 16.

Christian Walter put the Cougars on the board early after scoring on a cross in the sixth minute of action. Joshua Boschveld extended UFS's lead after firing a shot into the back of the net in the 42nd minute. The Cougars would go into halftime up 2-0.

USF's strong defensive effort held the Maple Leafs to just four shots in the second half, with Saint Francis goalkeeper Jannik Reiss making two saves to shutout Goshen for the 2-0 victory.

Saint Francis outshot Goshen 17-8, with eight of those shots landing on goal for the Cougars. Unax Mendia, Boschveld, and Walter each had a pair of shots land on goal on Wednesday night.

Up next, USF men's soccer (7-7-1, 1-4-1) will host the Knights of Marian University at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium on October 19 for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff.
