Cougars Meet NAIA Standards at IWU Midwest Classic
MARION, Ind. --The track & field teams traveled to Marion, Ind. on Saturday February 4th to compete at the IWU Midwest Classic. The day was highlighted by 3 NAIA Standards being hit. Two NAIA standards were also only within a second of being broken.
WOMEN HIGHLIGHTS:
The women's 4x800 relay consisting of Alex Ebetino, Lillee Stewart, Kelsey Peck, and Mariah Maley hit NAIA A standard and a new school record time of 9:42.13. This is currently the #2 time in the NAIA.
Shortly after the relay bot Alex Ebetino and Mariah Maley came home event winners in their perspective events. Alex cruised to the win in the women's mile hitting NAIA B Standard along the way. Mariah Maley won the 600m running a new school record time of 1:39.25. Just missing NAIA B Standard by .54 seconds.
MEN HIGHLIGHTS:
For the men, the day was started off by the men's 4x800m relay of Connor Jackson, Remington Carpenter, Cole Sikorski, and Spencer Carpenter running a new school record time of 8:00.61. This effort just narrowly missed NAIA B standard coming .62 seconds short of the mark to hit.
Spencer Carpenter came back in his individual event the 1,000m and his time of 2:31.57 is good enough for a NAIA B Standard.
With two meets left before qualifying closes the team has hit the following NAIA Standard marks.

The Track & Field teams will travel to Tiffin University February 11th to compete at the Tiffin University Open 2. Events will begin at 9am and will take place in Heminger Center - Tiffin, Ohio.
