Indoor Track & Field Crossroads League Championship Day 1
MARION, Ind. -- Both the Men and Women's Track and Field teams competed in Day 1 of the Crossroads League Tournament Friday February 17th in their preliminary rounds of events. Both teams found success in their prelims and cashed in largely for their final events, looking to build off the momentum progressing into Day 2 of the Tournament (February 18th).
To Highlight some of the craft on display at the CL Tourney the Men's Team was led off by All League performances in the 4x800m and the Pole Vault.
The 4x800m relay of Connor Jackson, Remington Carpenter, Cole Sikorski, and Spencer Carpenter placed 3rd with a time of 7:54.24 which resulted in an NAIA A standard and school record. Their time is currently 5th in the NAIA.
Joe Painter finished 2nd in the Pole Vault to earn All League honors. His height of 4.75m was also an NAIA A standard.
Not only did the Men's team perform on Day 1, but the Women's team also performed well at the CL Tourney. A few Highlights included the the Women's 4x800m relay of Alex Ebetino, Kelsey Peck, Yami Diaz, and Kristina Baum placing 4th, but in doing so, they broke the previous school record by 6 seconds running 9:35.49. This time is currently 4th in the NAIA.
Mariah Maley finished 2nd in the 600m to earn All League honors. Her time of 1:37.56 qualifies for an NAIA B standard and new school record.
Both teams will resume their Crossroads League Tournament Day 2 today (February 18th) to hopefully hit more NAIA A & B standards to prepare for Indoor Nationals along witht he Outdoor Track & Field season.
