Track & Field Crossroads League Tournament Day 2

MARION, Ind. -- Both the Men and Women's Track and Field teams competed in Day 2 of the Crossroads League Tournament Saturday February 18th in their final races of the Indoor Season. Both teams found success in their finals and were rewarded with all time PR's, school records, and national qualifying A & B standards along with NAIA ranked times in their races.
 
For the Women's side, day 2 of the Crossroads League Conference Tourney was highlighted by Alex Ebetino placing 2nd in the 3,000m. Her time of 10:03.68 is currently 12th in the NAIA. Earning points for the Lady Cougars in the rankings for Conference League Champions. Kristina Baum ran a lifetime best in the 800m to gain 8th place and score a point. 
 
The Lady Cougars were also highlighted by Emma Kioski running a time of 26.99 in the 200m to break the school record previously held by Winifred Sceniak. This time will help to prepare her to qualify for a potential A or B standard to resume Indoor Nationals along with Outdoor Season. 
 
All League performances were also highlighted from the Women's 4x800m relay of Alex Ebetino, Kelsey Peck, Yami Diaz, and Kristina Baum placing 4th, but in doing so, they broke the previous school record by 6 seconds running 9:35.49. This time is currently 4th in the NAIA. 
 
Mariah Maley finished 2nd in the 600m to earn All League honors. Her time of 1:37.56 qualifies for an NAIA B standard and new school record. 
 
For the Men's side, day 2 of the Crossroads League Conferenece Tourney was highlighted by Remington Carpenter. Carpenter placed 9th in the 800m with a time of 1:58.18. This time made Carpenter the 3rd USF Track & Field Athlete on the Men's side to run a time under 2:00 in the 800m for an Indoor Season. 
 
Ontarius Jones also had his input in the Tourney with a thrown shot put distance of 14.16m for a new lifetime record for Indoors. This distance was good enough to earn him 8th place and score a point for the Cougars. 
 
Other All League performances from the Men's side included the 4x800m relay of Connor JacksonRemington CarpenterCole Sikorski, and Spencer Carpenter placing 3rd with a time of 7:54.24 which resulted in an NAIA A standard and school record. Their time is currently 5th in the NAIA. 
 
Joe Painter also finished 2nd in the Pole Vault to earn All League honors. His height of 4.75m was also an NAIA A standard.
 
These highlights have qualified the Cougars for 11 Events at the NAIA Indoor Nationals. The NAIA Indoor Nationals will take place in Brookings, South Dakota March 2nd through the 4th.
