School Records, NAIA feats, & NAIA A & B standards at GVSU Invite

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Cougars traveled for some tough competition on Friday at the Holiday Opener hosted by Grand Valley State University.

USF saw success throughout the long day in both running and field events. Field events saw PR's in both throwing events from freshman Tiler Carr hitting 12.01m in men's shotput, and in women's weight, Sierra Schmidt threw 8.67m while Gwen Jakway threw 8.06m.

Senior Joe Painter competed in the pole vault and met B Standard with a mark of 4.65m.

Running events were kicked off by freshman Victoria Clibon in the 5k with a new PR of 18:28, followed by Alex Ebetino who set a new school record and hit A Standard with a time of 17:10. Ebetino currently holds the third fastest time in the NAIA for this event.

In the men's and women's 800m sophomores Cole Sikorski and Corbin Moriarity finished first in their individual heats, and freshman Kiara Bahena set a new school record with 2:21 in the 800m.

"We took advantage of the opportunity to compete at a high level and were rewarded with great performances across the board. The key will be to carry this momentum through the holidays and be ready for a fast start in 2024," stated Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Coach Brendon Moody."

USF will compete again on January 13th at Wabash after the Christmas Break & New Year.
