Crossroads League Championship Day 2 in the Books
Indianapolis, IN - The women's team wrapped up day two at the Crossroads League Championship finishing with 38 points and in eighth place. Leading the way for the cougars was Senior Alex Ebetino with her runner-up finish in the 3,000 meters running 10:00.62. Victoria Clibon finished in fifth place picking up four additional points for the women. Also competing in the 3000 was Freshman Marissa Goodwin, running a lifetime best of 11:21.98.
In the women's shot put, Sophomore Hannah Boersema, threw a lifetime best on throw number six in the finals to move from sixth place to fifth and secure an additional four points for the women. Other highlights include season best performances for Amethyst Berghoff in the 200, Hannah Hawkins and Lily Kissner in the Mile, and the trio of Kayla Quimby, Lindy Wood, and Anna Strong in the 1000 meters.
"All-in-All it was a good weekend for our program, we just look to improve week-by-week!" Head Track Coach Kris Hart said.
For the second day in a row, Freshman Alvin Keter set a school record, this time it came in the men's 3,000 meter. His time of 8:48.43 secured a 7th place finish and two team points for the men. The men wrapped up the conference with a tenth place finish.
"We had quite a few bright spots for our squad this weekend," Hart said. "Keter raced well in the 3,000 scoring from the slow heat and our men continue to improve."
Sophomore Cole Skirorski ran to number 3 all-time indoor in the 800, Cobin Moriartity ran lifetime bests in two of his three races, and Fabio Leschinsky ran a season best in the 200.
The team will be back in action at the NAIA National Championship February 29-March 2 in Brookings South Dakota.
