
USF Track & Field Opens Indoor Season at Warrior Open
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) track and field teams opened the indoor season at the Warrior Open, hosted by the Indiana Institute of Technology, on Friday, December 6.
Headlining the Warrior Open for the Cougars was a first-place finish and NAIA B-Standard performance from Joey Rauwerda in the men's pole vault. His mark of 4.75m also put the graduate student in second on the USF All-Time Top 10 list. Evan Pitts crossed the finish line in the 3,000m run with a time of 9:25.96 for the ninth fastest time in program history. Jacob Douglas ran the sixth fastest time in school history in the 400m run with a time of 52.86.
The women's team saw two top-10 performances from Mariah Maley and Gloria Wafula. Maley's time of 27.94 seconds in the 200m dash is the seventh-best time in program history. Wafula ran the mile in a time of 5:36.31, which puts her eighth all-time in school history.
