Cougars Place 10th at Notre Dame National Catholic Invitational
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - On Friday afternoon the University of Saint Francis Cougars traveled out to Notre Dame to compete in the National Catholic Invitational, and finished 10th out of 14 teams.
Sophomore Spencer Carpenter led the way as he finished 24th out of 163 runners with a time of 25:58.7 in the 5 mile run. His average mile time was 5:11.7 was the best of all Crossroads League runners at the event.
Following behind Spencer was his brother Remington Carpenter placing 68th with a time of 27:29.6. The other Crossroads League team competing alongside the Cougars as the invite were the Marian Knights, and USF finished ahead of them at 10th and 11th respectively.
"Both Carpenter men had solid outings at the five-mile distance," Head Coach Brendon Moody said after the event. "Our young team is trying to figure out racing on a consistent level and when they do, their hard work will be showcased."
The Cougars resume play next Friday afternoon when they travel to Thomas Sawyer State Park to compete in the Greater Louisville Classic.
