Dowd's seventh inning grand slam propels USF past Bethel
Cougar softball takes two from Bethel Pilots on the road 5-3 and 9-7.
Game 1 Highlights:
- USF jumps on the board in the top of the first after Dani Karr singled and Bree Miller hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring runs.
- The Pilots scored one run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run to left field by Robbins.
- Karr had two runs batted in. Macie Dowd had three hits in four at bats. Brooklyn McCord and Lena Viggiano each collected multiple hits for USF.
- Elle Sauder earned the win for the Cougs. Surrendering four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking one.
Game 2 Highlights:
- Cougars trailed 1-6 and came back with the 9-7 win.
- Pilots got on the board in the first inning with one run.
- Miller singled to help tie the game 1-1 in the top of the third.
- Bethel took the lead back in the third and fourth going up five.
- USF brought in 8 runs in the final three innings to take the win.
- Dowd drove in five runs on three hits. One being a single in the sixth scoring one and another being a grand slam to left field in the seventh inning, scoring four runs.
- Mia Werner earned the win for the Cougs. The righty gave up one hit and one run over three innings, striking out two and walking one.
- Both Mackenzie Rust and Lex Huth stepped in the circle to pitch for the Cougars.
