
Lady Cougs fall to No. 7-ranked Indiana Wesleyan
MARION, Ind. – The Lady Cougs dropped a tough battle to No. 7-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon with a 62-72 final. Indiana Wesleyan is the second top 10 team that the Lady Cougs have faced thus far in the season.
Saint Francis battled in the first quarter to a 6-point lead with 2:07 remaining in the quarter. Unfortunately, the Lady Cougs could not close out the quarter with the lead due to turnovers and IWU capitalizing to tie it at the end of the first.
USF shot 49% from the field and recorded 30-points in the paint alone. The Lady Cougars were 11/14 from the foul line as well. Key players for the Lady Cougs included Emily Parrett who had 19 points, 3 steals, 2 assists, & 5 rebounds. Parrett once again led all scoring for USF. Julia Mantyla also contributed 11 points and 2 assists, but ran into foul trouble.
Chloe McKnight and Cassidy Crawford tallied a combined 18 points, 10 rebounds, & 4 assists. Crawford along with Mantyla also fouled out of the game.
The Lady Cougars are now 9-10 overall and 5-4 in conference. The Lady Cougars will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana January 18th, where they'll take on No. 6-ranked Marian University for the second half of their regular season Crossroads play. Tip-off is set for 7pm at the Marian University Physical Education Center.
