
Valiant Effort by Cougs Falls just Short to No. 2-Ranked Wildcats
MARION, Ind. -- The USF (Ind.) Cougars traveled a short trip to the campus of Indiana Wesleyan for a Crossroads League match-up over the weekend. The Wildcats are currently Ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, but the Cougars gave them a run for their money this weekend. USF only fell to the Wildcats by a 7-point deficit, with the final score being 79-72.
The Cougars trailed after the first quarter by 12-points, but were able to get back into the game before the half, only trailing by 6-points. Emily Parrett had a huge afternoon with 21-points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds to help the Cougar effort. Ally Madden also contributed greatly off the bench, cashing in with 14-points and going 6-for-6 from the field & grabbing 7 rebounds. Reganne Pate was also in double-digit scoring with 11-points & 1 assist. McKnight & Gizzi combined for 17 points, 10 rebounds, & 3 assists.
The loss has now pushed USF to 9-5 overall and 2-3 in Crossroads League Play. The Cougars will return to action this coming Wednesday, January 10th on the road. The Cougars will compete against the Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) Cougars for a Coug showdown at Ariel Arena. Tip-off is set for 5pm in Mount Vernon, Ohio with the men's game to follow directly after.
