
Lady Cougs Extend the Winning Streak to 4
MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Lady Cougs took on the Pilots of Bethel University (Ind.) for a Crossroads League match-up on Wednesday evening in Mishawaka. The Lady Cougs continued to roll to their fourth straight victory by a score of 73-64.
To start the game off, the Cougs found themselves down 5, but Carley Culberson's 5 points off the bench helped to keep it close. They narrowed the lead down to 2 at the half after some great plays on the defensive end. Then a real spark came in the third quarter when Chloe McKnight and Isabella Gizzi combined for 20 points and 18 of them were from beyond the arc. They continued to pull away and held on to win by 9.
Two of the starters played a big role in this one with Chloe McKnight dropping 15 points and Isabella Gizzi having 14 of her own. Also earning the start tonight, Ally Madden had 10 points to go along with a couple rebounds. Carley Culberson came off the bench and provided 13 points as well, most of it coming in the first and fourth quarter. They hope to continue to lead and play well leading into their next game.
USF is now 14-8 overall and 7-6 in Crossroads League play. The Lady Cougars will play again Saturday February 10th against the Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan at 1:00 PM in the Hutzell Athletic Center. Indiana Wesleyan University is currently 21-2 overall and 12-1 in Crossroads League Play. The last time these two teams matched up was in Marian, Indiana on January 6th. The Lady Cougs look to bounce back and even up the series after losing a close battle last time, 79-72.
