McKnight Joins 1,000 Point Club as Cougars Down IU East

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's basketball team defeated the Indiana University East Red Wolves by a final score of 84-39 in non-conference action on Wednesday, November 13. 

Chloe McKnight scored her 1,000th career point during Wednesday night's victory. The senior guard from Bedford, Ind. needed 14 points to reach the milestone entering into Wednesday night's game. With 1:58 on the clock in the third quarter, McKnight drained a three-pointer to score her 15th point of the game and bring her career total to 1,001.

Saint Francis quickly established a strong lead, jumping out to a 12-2 advantage by the 5:09 mark of the first quarter. USF outscored IU East 24-10 in the opening quarter and ended the first half with a commanding 43-20 lead, having held the Red Wolves scoreless for the final 3 minutes of the half. In the third quarter, USF kept IU East to under 10 points for the 61-28 lead. The Cougars finished the game with a shooting percentage of 45.5% (30 for 66) from the field and dominated the boards, outrebounding the Red Wolves 46-24 as the Cougars secured an 84-39 victory to remain undefeated on the season.

The Cougars also outscored IU East in the paint 34-16 and converted the Red Wolves' 15 turnovers into 27 points.McKnight led the Cougars with 15 points, while Isabella Gizzi and Cassidy Crawford finished with 14 points each. Crawford also pulled down seven rebounds, while freshman Cali Gregory led in assists with six. Samiyah Stout also contributed five assists on Wednesday evening. Abby Stoddard had a team-high 10 rebounds. 

Up next, USF women's basketball (6-0) will host the No. 16 Indiana Tech Warriors on November 16.
