Tourney Time: USF Hosts Bethel for Crossroads League Quarterfinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's basketball team will host Bethel University for the Quarterfinal Round of the Crossroads League Women's Basketball tournament on Wednesday, February 26.

The Cougars enter the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed, while the Pillots are the No. 7 seed in the bracket.

GAME NOTES

  • The Cougars finished the regular season with an overall record of 25-3 and a Crossroads League record of 15-3. Saint Francis is currently ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
  • The Pilots conclude the regular season with an overall record of 13-15 and a league record of 6-12.
  • In their first matchup of the season on December 7, Saint Francis defeated Bethel with a final score of 87-50 in Mishawaka, Indiana. Cali Gregory led the Cougars with 28 points, while Justyce Williams was Bethel's top scorer with 10 points.
  • The two teams faced each other again on February 5 at the Hutzell Athletic Center, where Saint Francis emerged victorious with a score of 70-55. Five Cougars scored in double digits, with Cassidy Crawford leading the way with 16 points and five assists. Mariah Claywell was Bethel's leading scorer, contributing 15 points.
  • As a team, USF is averaging 74.3 points per game in Crossroads League play, while Bethel is averaging 57.6 points per game in league play.
  • Julia Mantyla currently leads the league with an impressive field goal percentage of 59.4%. Gregory boasts the second-best three-point shooting percentage at 45.7%, followed closely by Isabella Gizzi at 44.9%. Additionally, Mantyla ranks fifth in three-point shooting percentage with 42.9%. Gregory has recorded 108 assists this season, which places her fourth in the Crossroads League.
  • Bethel's Nickerson is shooting 44.4% from deep this season, the fourth-best three-point shooting percentage in the CL.
