Women's Soccer Battles to 1-1 Draw at Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Cornerstone University on Friday, August 30. 

Cornerstone struck first, netting a goal in the 2nd minute of the match. The Cougars responded with some pressure and fired off four shots on goal in the first half of action. USF was unable to find the back of the net, as Cornerstone took a 1-0 lead at halftime. 

Sophomore Haleigh Wesley scored her first goal of the season in the 58th minute, assisted by Courtney Tobin to level the score 1-1. The Cougars and Golden Eagles continued to battle in the second half, but the match would end in a 1-1 draw.

As a team, USF took 11 shots on Friday night, with eight shots landing on goal. Grace Morris led with two shots on goal, while Kayden Tassler had three saves in goal for Saint Francis. Rachel Bova had two saves, including a crucial save in the 85th minute.

Up next, USF women's soccer (3-0-1) will travel to the SpartaDome for a matchup against Indiana University Northwest on Tuesday, September 2.
