Cougars Down Spartans 2-1
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's soccer team improved to 6-0-2 on the season after beating the Spartans of Manchester University by a final score of 2-1 on Saturday, September 14.
The Cougars and Spartans played through a scoreless first half of action on Saturday afternoon. Junior Haley Roberson was able to break the scoreless draw at the 72:06 mark after scoring her third goal of the season to put USF on top 1-0. Madison Meeks followed with a goal of her own just a minute later, her first goal of the season. Manchester would score once in the 83rd minute, but it wouldn't be enough as the Cougars would go on to win 2-1.
USF outshot Manchester 24-1, with nine of those shots landing on goal for the Cougars. Saint Francis also won the battle in corner kicks with nine compared to Manchester's zero. Carlee Biddle and Roberson led the Cougars with two shots on goal apiece.
Up next, USF women's soccer (6-0-2) will host Holy Cross College at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium on Tuesday, September 17. Kickoff has been moved up to 6:00 p.m.
