Cougars Earn 1-0 Victory Over Goshen during Pink Out and Senior Night Game

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) shut out the visiting Maple Leafs of Goshen College during the Cougars' Pink Out and Senior Night game on Wednesday, October 16. 

Prior to the start of Wednesday night's match, USF women's soccer honored its two seniors, Carlee Biddle and Holly Thomas in a short, on-field ceremony. 

Once the game kicked off, it was the Cougars that were able to create chances early, firing off three shots, two on goal, in the opening 15 minutes of action on Wednesday night. Neither squad would find the back of the net as USF and Goshen went into halftime tied 0-0. 

Taylor Swygart put the Cougars on the scoreboard with a goal in the 58th minute, assisted by BiddleThe USF defense was able to keep Goshen from scoring, as the Cougars secured the 1-0 victory at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium.

The Cougars outshot the Maple Leafs 8-5, with four of USF's shots landing on goal on Wednesday night. Freshman Rachel Bova played all 90 minutes in goal for USF, making two crucial saves to secure the shutout. Bova has had three clean sheets in the past four games in the month of October.

Up next, USF women's soccer (9-2-4, 2-2-2) will host travel to Marian University to take on nationally ranked Knights on October 16.
