Lady Cougars Drop Spring Opener & Cougars Triumph the Albion Brits of Michigan

Results

ALBION, Mich. – The University of Saint Francis Men's & Women's Tennis teams traveled to Albion, Michigan Saturday morning to compete with the Albion College Brits. The Men's team walked away with a triumphant 6-3 win against the Brits and the Women's squad dropped to the Brits 7-2.

The traveling/competing Lady Cougars consisted of Jessica Heline (Sr.), Alyssa Ciocca (So.), Sophia Vandegriff (Sr.), Elizabeth Gomez (Sr.), & Danielle Smith (Fr.). This is the first match-up the Lady Cougars have competed in since September 17th, where they fell to Alma College 6-1.

Doubles:

Heline / Ciocca (USF) def. Zuun / Hepner (ALB), 8-2

Dunn / McDonald (ALB) def. Vandegriff / Gomez (USF), 8-6 

Reed / Herrington (ALB) win by default 

Singles:

Heline (USF) def. Zuun (ALB), 6-1, 6-0 

Dunn (ALB) def. Ciocca (USF), 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 

Hepner (ALB) def. Vandegriff (USF), 6-0, 6-3 

Reed (ALB) def. Gomez (USF), 6-1, 6-4 

McDonald (ALB) def. Smith (USF)

The Lady Cougars are now 0-1 in their Spring 2023 debut.

 

The traveling/competing Cougars for the Men's side included Alfredo Huamami (Jr.), Eric Staunheim (Fr.), Martin Maurant (Fr.), Devon McCaffrey (Fr.), Will Daigle (So.), & Cristian Pena (Fr.). This is also the first match-up for the Men since October 8th where they defeated Franklin College 6-1.
