Lady Cougs Secure first Team Win against the Spartans
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis Lady Cougars defeated the Manchester Spartans 7-2 in their final Spring game on April 4th, 2023, securing their first win of the school year. The Lady Cougars displayed a strong performance, highlighted by their doubles teams' performances.
Jessica Henline and Alyssa Ciocca defeated Manchester's Eva Barfoni and Evelyn Minton 8-7 (4), while Sophia Vandegriff and Lizzie Gomez beat Natalie Kotlin and Avin DeMaso 8-4.
Moving on to singles matches, the Lady Cougars dominated their opponents, winning five out of six matches. Jessica Henline had an intense match against Eva Barfoni, winning 5-7, 6-2, 11-9. Alyssa Ciocca secured a comfortable win against Evelyn Minton with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Sophia Vandegriff played a fantastic match against Natalie Kottin, winning 6-1, 6-2. Lizzie Gomez won against Avin DeMaso with a score of 6-1, 6-2, while Danielle Smith defeated Heather Bimon 6-1, 6-4. The sixth singles match was a default in favor of Manchester College.
