Women's Tennis Faces Tough Challenge Against No. 23-Ranked Marian University Knights

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's tennis team encountered a formidable opponent in the No. 23-ranked Marian University Knights on Sunday afternoon. Despite their best efforts, the Cougars faced a challenging match, with the final score ending 0-7 in favor of the Knights.

Doubles

In the doubles competition, the USF team displayed resilience and fought hard but was unable to secure any of the matches:

  • #1 Doubles: Lauren Korte and Ellen Reidy (USF) engaged in a closely contested match against Isadora and Paloma (MU), with the Knights claiming victory with a score of 5-7.

  • #2 Doubles: Alyssa Ciocca and Tori Rodenbeck (USF) faced Elli L. and Dana S. (MU) but were defeated with a score of 2-6.

  • #3 Doubles: Ellie Klinger and Natalie Moore (USF) encountered Darja H. and Elisa R. (MU) and battled hard but ultimately lost with a score of 2-6.

Singles

The singles matches proved to be equally challenging for the Cougars, with Marian University Knights securing victories in all six matches:

  • #1 Singles: Ellen Reidy (USF) faced Paloma (MU) and displayed her skills but ultimately lost with a score of 3-6, 3-6.

  • #2 Singles: Lauren Korte (USF) put up a strong fight against Elli L. (MU) and secured a win for the Cougars with a score of 6-1, 6-2.

  • #3 Singles: Alyssa Ciocca (USF) encountered a tough opponent in Isadora M. (MU) but faced defeat with a score of 0-6, 0-6.

  • #4 Singles: Tori Rodenbeck (USF) battled against Dana S. (MU) but was defeated with a score of 1-6, 2-6.

  • #5 Singles: Natalie Moore (USF) faced Daria H. (MU) and displayed her determination but lost with a score of 0-6, 0-6.

Despite the challenging matchup against the No. 23-ranked Marian University Knights, the University of Saint Francis women's tennis team showcased their potential for the post season. The Cougars will be back in action today (Monday, September 25th) for their final Crossroads League match-up before the CL Tournament. They will compete at Klopfenstein Courts in Huntington, Indiana against the Huntington University Foresters for a 7pm first serve.
