
Outdoor Track & Field Turns in Strong Showing at Day One of the Crossroads League Championships
MARION, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in day one of the Crossroads League Championships on Thursday, May 2.
An All-Conference performance in the pole vault and a second fastest time in school history in the 4x800 relay highlighted day one for the men's team.
Joe Painter placed 3rd in the pole vault with a height of 4.90m (16' 1"). His mark also ties for 6th best in the Crossroads League Outdoor Track and Field Championships meet record book.
The 4x800m relay team of Cole Sikorski, Alexander Reagan, Cobin Moriarity, Connor Jackson placed 8th with a time of 7:58.84. Their time is the second fastest time in school history.
Not only did the men's team perform on day one, but the women's team also performed well at the conference championships. The women's 4x800m relay team consisting of Kiara Bahena, Alex Ebetino, Victoria Clibon, and Mariah Maley crossed the finish line in 5th place with an NAIA B Standard time of 9:27.01, breaking the Saint Francis school record.
Marissa Goodwin raced to 8th place in the 10,000m run with a time of 42:49.27.
Coach Moody said "both teams had a good start to day one. We would like to carry that into tomorrow and finish the championships off strong."
The Crossroads League Championships will continue tomorrow on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University. Day two will feature 22 running finals and six finals in field events.
