Lady Cougs Snap Losing Streak with 1st Conference Dub

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) Women's Volleyball team snapped their losing skid by returning home and defeating the Goshen College Maple Leaves 3-1. The Lady Cougs are now 4-0 on their home court in Hutzell Athletic Center.
The Lady Cougars took the first set by storm finishing 25-18 due to some key contributors at the net tallying 11 kills. USF had a more relaxed attitude in the second set dropping it to the Leaves 25-15, due to many errors in the back court and miscommunication on sets. The third set played out as the first set did with a Lady Coug victory of 25-18. USF struggled in the fourth set, but were able to pull it together as a team and finish Goshen off 26-24.
Key contributors to the win came from Paige Fortkamp (6), Jo Delsing (20), and Eliza Madden (17) who combined for 43/47 assists. Fortkamp also led the way with 11 kills in 4 sets played. Ellie Ferris & Kate McMullen combined for 12 kills and Alexis Gregory held it down in the back court with 22 digs. Kelby Goldschmeding shined in her first match back with 10 digs in the backcourt matching Hannah Sweeney's 10 digs. Addison Shafer also recorded 3 service aces on the evening.
The Lady Cougars are now 5-7 overall and 1-1 in the Crossroads League Conference. USF will compete again on the road traveling to Mishawaka, Indiana to take on the Bethel University (Ind.) Pilots. Bethel (Ind.) is ranked 4th in the Crossroads League and 9th overall in the NAIA standings. BU is 12-1 overall and 9-1 in their last 10 matches.
