FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) volleyball team hosted No. 16 Grace College for a mid-week Crossroads League clash on Wednesday, October 23.
The Cougars fell to the Lancers by a final score of 3-0, with set scores of 25-10, 28-26, 25-17.
Grace, currently ranked second in the Crossroads League standings and No. 16 in the NAIA, pulled ahead 1-0 in the match after winning set one. The Cougars and Lancers battled back and forth in set two until Grace grabbed a 15-7 lead. USF rallied to take the 20-18 lead thanks to a kill from Addison Shafer. The two squads traded points, but with the score tied at 26-26, Grace was able to hang on to win the second set. The Lancers would go on to win set three to win the match.
Senior Paige Fortkamp led the Cougars with 10 kills while adding 11 digs and a solo block. Shafer added six kills and two solo blocks. Alexa Sparks collected 12 assists and five digs. Hannah Sweeney led the team in digs with 15, while Kate McMullen tallied three block assists.
